Why we love the Henry Wilson x Perfumer H Bronze Incense Burner
Like the beloved Aesop Brass Oil burner, the Bronze Incense burner has been a cult favourite at JAU. The unassumingly weighty feel of the bronze exudes a luxurious and high quality experience with its sturdiness. No more accidentants knocking over the incense holder and getting ash all over the carpet! The piece is small but has presence, smaller than a regular incense holder with the incense sticks burning vertically, the Bronze Incense burner won’t take up as much space in the home. Like its predecessor the Aesop Brass Oil burner we love that this piece also has the options of an organic evolving patina or a polished look that can be utilised to match your liking.
The Bronze incense holder is a petite footed incense burner made of solid, polished sand cast gunmetal bronze fitting both Indian style and Japanese style incense sticks.
The incense holder was birthed out of a collaboration between Australian designer Henry Wilson and owner of boutique perfume store "Perfumer H", Lyn Harris. Lyn Harris creates personalised custom made fragrances for clientele at revered "Perfumer H" based in London with each perfume following a development process that can take up to six months. She is known as one of the best noses in the perfume industry which is why Harris acquired the expertise of Wilson on an essential piece for her home and store.
Speaking on the creative process Lyn exclaims "It has been such a joy to collaborate with Henry as he is a truly talented 3D designer and when I told him I needed something heavy and beautiful that catches all the ash he came up with this heavenly object which I now can’t live without at home as it not only elevates the whole ritual of incense burning but in itself it is a beautiful object I will cherish and get great pleasure from."
Henry Wilson is an industrial designer based in Sydney, Australia. Wilsons academic background ;graduating with first class honours in visual arts at the ANU (Australian National University School of Art) and masters degree completed in Europe; has carried on to his well established career as a designer and building his brand Studio Henry Wilson in 2012.
Wilson is now a key figure in the Australian contemporary art scene designing furniture, lighting, accessories and components and working together with a range of suppliers and manufacturers. His work has also led him to collaborate with a number of brands and artists with the most recognised collaboration being the Aesop x Wilson collaborations. The partnership has transcended to two Studio Henry Wilson designed Aesop Stores—in Balmain and Crows Nest, Sydney—as well as a 2017 Aesop exhibition at Salone del Mobile in Milan. On top of that he also designed Aesop’s first object in their home range being the Brass Oil Burner also available on our JAU online store.
